MediaTek has just released a new gaming-oriented chipset for its G series, the Helio G85.

No details about pricing or specs are released yet. But with this new chipset, the choices for gaming chipset will expand.

The G85 is an 8-core chipset that supports LTE (not supported by 5G). The Xiaomi Redmi Note 9 launched last week is also powered by the Helio G85 SoC.

The chip is made up of two 2GHz – A75 cores and six 1.8GHz – A55 cores using 12nm technology.

It also features a 1GHz ARM Mali G52 GPU. MediaTek also includes “HyperEngine” optimizations to enhance gaming performance and connectivity.

This latest chipset supports up to 8GB of RAM and supports FHD + resolution, 60Hz display, Bluetooth 5.0, and 802.11ac.

For cellular connectivity, this chipset supports Category 7 LTE and VoLTE / VoWi-Fi and also supports Dual 4G SIM.
