Apple iOS 17 is now available for download : Apple has just published a new version of iOS, the company’s iPhone operating system. iOS 17 is a free update that is compatible with the iPhone X and later, as well as the second and third-generation iPhone SE. Today, Apple is also releasing significant updates to watchOS, iPadOS, and tvOS.
The new StandBy mode is, in my opinion, the most significant feature in iOS 17. When not in use and placed on a wireless charger, your iPhone shows full-screen widgets for quick, glanceable information.
You may select which widgets to display, such as the weather forecast, a list of reminders, your upcoming calendar events, the current time, and more. This mode can also be used to see your favorite photographs in your photo collection.
Many people will also use it for the customisable alarm clock screen. It’s an excellent replacement for an outdated FM radio alarm clock on your nightstand.
iOS 17 also includes new interactive widgets, a better keyboard, AirPlay enhancements, and several changes to built-in apps like Messages, Apple Maps, Contacts, the built-in password manager, FaceTime, and so on.
The update is presently being rolled out and is available over-the-air in the Settings app as well as by connecting your device to a computer for a cable upgrade. But first, make a backup of your device. Open the Settings app on your iPhone and tap on your account information at the top, followed by your device name, to ensure your iCloud backup is up to current. You may also connect your iOS device to your computer to do a manual backup in Finder or iTunes for Windows (or both).
If you backup to a computer, don’t forget to encrypt it. It is significantly safer if your computer is hacked, since encrypted backups include saved passwords and health data. You won’t have to reconnect to all of your online accounts this way.
